Kate Middleton has been absent from the bigger picture since January, after undergoing a major abdominal surgery. Subsequently, she started her treatment for an unspecified form of cancer. However, she hasn’t been forgotten by the British people, nor by Buckingham Palace which granted her a new honor.
On April 23, the Palace made a special announcement with a series of new appointments that went into effect on the same day. King Charles III appointed the Princess of Wales a new prestigious title, for the first time in the history of the British Royal Family.
Middleton was named Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour, which makes her the first ever Royal Companion named to that order. This special title is also shared by Winston Churchill, David Attenborough, Anna Wintour, and Stephen Hawking.
“The Order of the Companions of Honour is “a special award granted to those who have made a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time.”
This special honor has become a vivid reminder Kate Middleton is going to resume her royal duties anytime soon. For now, she has been resting and spending time with her loved ones, before carrying the weight of the Crown along with Prince William.
