A few hours ago, through their agency BELIFT LAB, the new girl group ILLIT announced a fandom name change after receiving a negative reaction from BLACKPINK’s Lisa and NMIXX fans who currently share a similar name.
On April 21st, the girls made a live broadcast with their fans to announce their fandom name, but just after the revelation, they went viral on networks as this is pronounced and written the same way in Korean as NMIXX Lily‘s name.
In addition, others show disagreement, as BLACKPINK‘s Lisa fans are called ‘Lilies’ or ‘Lillies’. For that reason, the agency behind ILLIT released a statement saying, “We have decided to revisit the matter upon reviewing various concerns that have emerged“.
To take action on the matter, BELIFT LAB also stated, “The new fan club name will be chosen among other shortlisted candidates and be announced at a later date. A naming contest will not be held this time“, they apologized for the confusion and thanked for the support.
