GOT7‘s BamBam has recently been the face of a potentially controversial endorsement. Fans reacted with mixed emotions after KFC Thailand hinted at the GOT7 member being their new “Friend of KFC Thailand“, provoking a polarized response. To make things worse, KFC’s involvement in promotional activities related to BamBam’s “THE 1ST WORLD TOUR ENCORE [AREA 52] in BANGKOK” added fuel to the fire.

What’s more, KFC Thailand has extensively used references to associate itself with the idol, such as the snake and green heart—icons for BamBam and GOT7 respectively. While some Ahgases (that’s the name of GOT7 fans) were hyped about the announcement, it looks like this sentiment wasn’t echoed throughout the entirety of BamBam’s fanbase.
The partnership is involved amid an international boycott, which is not only affecting KFC but also several other brands. The reason is their perceived connections with Israel, as the country has had Palestine under fire with thousands of casualties. As a result, a part of the public has been pressuring companies to reassess their business ethics and affiliations.
The debate within the fandom continues, with some fans supporting BamBam’s choices and others trying to contact the idol and his management to reconsider this partnership.
