Imagine having your face on money? Well, that’s exactly what King Charles lll is all about lately! During a cozy meet-up at Buckingham Palace with the Bank of England’s top brass, Andrew Bailey and Sarah John, King Charles reacted endearingly to the first bank notes with his face on them.
Yes, you read that right! The monarch got the initial peek at the fresh £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes sporting his royal profile. After seeing the work from the Bank of England, he said the new notes were “Very elegant,” giving that royal-approved stamp to the designs, which come from a 2013 snapshot of him. This is a major royal rite of passage, as the King’s mom also has her image printed on the UK’s notes.
The currency switch-up is set to hit the British streets on June 5, marking the first sovereign swap on Bank of England notes since Queen Elizabeth. But are you worried bout the late Queen disappearing from money? Fear not! those bills with her image are saying in the game, too. That means we’re having both mother and son doing, quite literally, business with the British people.
