In Harper’s Bazaar recent report, one of its editors shared details behind Shakira‘s training firsthand and showed the world her intense exercise routine to stay in shape at 47 years old with the high-level “professional fitness coach, dancer, and choreographer“, Anna Kaiser.
In the article, she said that she underwent a week of training where she experienced “dance mashups to HIIT, to sculpt, to her signature Box class—and though different, they all have a common thread in that they focus on balance, core strength, and coordination“, which were workouts “like nothing I’d experienced before“, in her words.
She also said that “the cardio elements in the class are perfectly mixed in with the strength training and stretching, so the experience feels incredibly balanced“, which would be a fundamental part of the training of an artist like Shakira, who also needs a lot of resistance.
In addition, she stated that these workouts are “never just gonna be Pilates, or dance, or functional or interval training“, as Kaiser says, “it has to be everything; otherwise I wouldn’t have clients coming back for more than 10 years—they’d be bored. I’d be bored!“.
