The relationship between King Charles III and his firstborn had always been complicated; it was Kate Middleton who would have played a vital role in the close bond of Prince William with his father, the current monarch, helping to improve communication between the two and shortening the cold distance between them.
Kate since her arrival in the royal family has proved to have a very special bond with the king; even close sources revealed to ‘The Sun‘: “They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter. There is no doubt there is a lot they can share and can use each other for support during their own deeply personal cancer battles“.
It was royal expert Victoria Arbiter who said for The Mirror that Kate “has been a really wonderful healing balm for Prince William and his father“, later adding, “she’s just managed to bring a real sense of warmth and camaraderie and family to the royal family“.
The bond that Kate has cultivated with her father-in-law is very genuine, so much so that after the publication of the video where the princess revealed her cancer diagnosis, the palace assured that the King was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did“.
