In recent days, during an interview with ComicBook.com, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, announced a reboot of the saga, claiming not to ‘wait for certain actors‘ and making an apparent nod to Johnny Depp, the lead actor.
When the producer was asked about the future of his famous movie sagas, including ‘Top Gun’, he said, “It’s hard to tell” and continued, “You just don’t know. Because with ‘Top Gun’, you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does ‘Top Gun’, I can’t tell you“.
Regarding ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Bruckheimer said, “But we’re gonna reboot ‘Pirates’, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors“, hinting that the next production will have a whole new cast.
In 2020, it was revealed that Disney was developing two new movies of the Pirates franchise: a reboot directed by Margot Robbie and a continuation written by Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott, who wrote previous movies, but the strike delayed production.
