Barbie was undoubtedly one of the most successful movies of 2023, even won over Queen Camilla Parker, who received her own Barbie. “They took 50 years off me. We should all have a Barbie,” joked the queen as she received a doll exactly like her at a reception at Buckingham Palace.
The 75-year-old queen and the rejuvenated doll, from U.S. toy brand Mattel, wore an identical blue dress and the same black cape and boots. The gift was presented to her at the end of an event celebrating the WOW (Women of the World) Foundation, of which she is president and which works for gender equality.
Among the guests at the reception, part of the March 8 International Women’s Day celebrations, were Belgian Queen Mathilde and British-American actress Helen Mirren, who is the narrator of the film “Barbie,” released last year.
Helen Mirren, 78, had won the Oscar for best actress in 2007 after playing Queen Elizabeth II of England in the film The Queen. The actress herself also received last week a Barbie in her image and likeness, on the occasion of March 8, saying she was “completely impressed“.
