Kpop is one of the things we love the most and a representative group of this genre is undoubtedly Twice, a consistent group that would be getting more attention due to their great talent.
TWICE achieves its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with “With YOU-th,” earning 95,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 29, primarily from traditional sales. It is her fifth top 10 for K-pop entering the chart with the same plays as Taylor Swift.
With “With YOU-th,” TWICE become the third all-female group to reach No. 1 in less than three years. Before them, NewJeans led with “Get Up” (Aug. 5, 2023) followed by BLACKPINK with “Born Pink” (Oct. 1, 2022). All debuted at the top of the ranking. Also, K-pop group LE SSERAFIM debuts at No. 8 with “Easy”, their second album to reach the top 10, being an all-female group.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on equivalent album units, which include album sales, equivalent album track sales (TEA) and streaming equivalent album plays (SEA). The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums each week in the United States using sales and streaming data. During the listing period, “With YOU-th” sold 95,000 units. The 90,000 copies sold of physical and digital albums represented the highest amount of sales in the first week of the year.
The title track “One Spark”, the previously released song “I Got You”, and six other tracks are part of “With YOU-th” and we absolutely love it!
So we can say that the rise of k-pop is on the rise and we can see more and more Korean groups on the billboards along with big artists, such as Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake. This is a great representation of the movement and influence of K-pop.
