LE SSERAFIM face further criticism for their new album ‘EASY’ references and lack of ‘creative effort’

In recent days, LE SSERAFIM has faced further criticism for their new album ‘EASY‘ references and lack of ‘creative effort‘ according to the pop music review magazine IZM, which has criticized and compared the latest girlgoup comeback with other artists’ projects.

On the platform are different reviews by prominent music critics. Among them is Lee Seung Won, who shared a critique of ‘EASY’ from the girl group shortly after its release on February 19th, saying that “LE SSERAFIM’s music thus far has left a strong impression“.

The critic continued by saying, “Artfully choosing the most successful sounds from the pop music scene and integrating them skillfully into their own sound and identity“, reaffirming the great impact the girls have had in the 4th generation in the genre.

However, Lee Seung Won condemned the group for their “painfully obvious” references in their album, stating: “The song ‘Smart’, which boasts a common Afrobeat sound, resembles Doja Cat’s ‘Woman’ both in style and in the melody line“.

In addition, the critic also said, “The rock intro ‘Good Bones’ immediately reminds the listener of ‘Date with the Night’ by Yeah Yeah Yeahs“, while ‘Swan Song’ has similarities with ‘Kill Bill‘ by SZA.

Seung Won finally said that the “lazy modification of familiar sounds without much creative effort evokes a sense of deja vu, inevitably losing any semblance of freshness“.

These are the same criticisms LE SSERAFIM previously received for referencing the Spanish singer Rosalía in the main track of their second mini album titled ‘ANTIFRAGILE‘.
