In recent days, Princess Charlotte has been the center of conversation because she will lose her royal title when Prince William becomes king, and the future of the young member of the family is in debate. Find out her potential new title.
This happens because when William ascends to the throne, his eldest son will become the Prince of Wales, heir to the throne, and the 9-year-old girl, the third in the line of succession, will no longer be a princess, as a royal lady can only have this title if she is married to a prince or is the daughter of one.
For that reason, when Princess Charlotte’s parents become monarchs, she will be in a period in which they have to elucidate what new title she will receive. Although there are some possible titles for the young royal, these might not be eligible for her currently.
Among the possible titles is the title of Royal Princess, which corresponds to the eldest daughter of the monarch; however, this is the title that currently belongs to Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, so she cannot be named until her great aunt passes away.
On the other hand, Charlotte could also receive the title of Duchess of Edinburgh, but this is held by the younger brother of the King, Edward. This left the monarchy confused about what would happen to the young princess after her father ascended.
