After the long-awaited first release of her new musical era, Ariana Grande was criticized for comparing her song ‘yes, and?‘ with ‘thank u, next‘ in recent statements during a conversation with her team about the upcoming album.
The singer confessed why she chose the song ‘yes, and?’ to be the first track that would start her new era for her upcoming album titled ‘Eternal Sunshine‘, as she said, “the reason why I kinda liked (‘yes, and?’)… it’s an all-encompassing, like, ‘What the f*ck?‘”.

However, she was criticized by some of her fans for her following words comparing the new song, saying that it was “a surprise, it also gives us a lot of place to go… It’s kind of like the ‘thank u, next’ formula, if you will. ‘thank u, next’ came first because it had to“.
Some fans disagreed with her and shared comments such as “Makes no sense to me“, “sorry but she didn’t just comapre yes, and? to thank u next?” and “it’s not like thank u next that song flopped“, showing a dislike for the old song or poor success at the time.
Ariana Grande explains why “yes, and?” is the lead single from ‘eternal sunshine’:
