Shakira takes big win at major U.S. awards ceremony

We are definitely in the moment where Latin America is making its presence felt all over the world, to such an extent that a very important award that was recently held, had two very famous celebrities nominated, Karol G, Kali Uchis and of course, the musical legend, Shakira.

Shakira was the only Colombian to emerge victorious and with an award in hand, winning Best Latin Female Artist. The general audience votes to choose the winners. The awards event took place at the Barker Hangar, a large-capacity venue in Santa Monica, Southern California, in the United States.

Colombian singer Shakira shared an emotional message on her Instagram account after being chosen as the Latin Female Artist of the Year at the 49th edition of the People’s Choice Awards.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, I love you guys, you are the best,” Shakira expressed in a story she posted on her social networks.

Shakira received a nomination in the Collaboration of the Year category for her hit song “TQG” with Karol G. Finally, Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice and Aqua won the award for their song “Barbie World”. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift emerged victorious in the Female Artist of the Year category, while male-born Jungkook won in the same category.

The presenter was actor Simu Lu, who was noted for his role in the UCM movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings” and for being one of the main characters of “Ken” in Barbie. Without a doubt this awards season is leaving a lot to talk about, but we are very happy about Shakira’s victory and of course, the Latin representation in the world.
