In a recent interview, actor Matt Smith shared the time when Prince Harry called him ‘grandad’ for his role in ‘The Crown‘, drawing the attention of many media and royal fans for having a close interaction due to the famous series.
In conversations with the BBC, the man who played Prince Philip in the first two seasons of the Netflix series remembered an encounter he had with the Duke of Sussex during a Polo match a few years ago and revealed the tender nickname he called him.
Matt Smith shared that Harry greeted him warmly and said, “He was like ‘alright grandad?’ I was like ‘alright mate?’“, due to the fact that in this production, the actor played the late Philip of Edinburgh, grandfather of Prince Harry.
In 2023, the Duke of Sussex confirmed he watched ‘The Crown’ and that he even checked the facts that were exposed in the Netflix production. He said in the Stephen Colbert show that “it’s fictional, but it’s loosely based on the truth“.
