It is becoming more and more confusing what will be the future of superhero movies, if the studios have not been going through their best moments because the decisions they have taken have not been the ideal ones that the audience has been expecting and that is why they have been punished with a very bad box office, as it has been seen with the Madame Web movie, and unfortunately another movie that also suffered that fate, had been the second part of Aquaman, since this movie was announced there have been many problems around it, everything, starting when it went to trial its protagonist, Amber Heard who gives life to the role of Mera, Aquaman’s partner. Once the whole media scandal of the trial against her ex-partner, Johnny Depp, started, the attention was not the most positive. Then the movie was delayed until it was completely obstructed by the COVID-19 pandemic and now after several years since its announcement the movie was released. Unfortunately not everyone wanted to go see it in the theater, but if you were left wanting to see it, it will now be available on a streaming platform.
If you have no idea what the film is about, here is the synopsis from Film Affinity:
Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to defeat Aquaman once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever and wields the power of the mythical Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must put aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family – and the world – from irreversible destruction.
The platform has announced on Twitter (X) that James Wan’s film will join HBO Max’s cinematic selection on February 27 to treat DC fans and we are so excited!
