Now, many of us have wondered what would be the ideal place to recover and it is none other than Adelaide Cottage Windsor, a gift from Queen Elizabeth II to William and Kate.

About 40 miles from central London, Adelaide Cottage is located in the grounds of Windsor Home Park, near St. George’s Chapel. According to the Royal Collection, Adelaide Cottage was first built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV, using components of the Royal Lodge. Several kings have used the royal retreat; Queen Victoria often stopped there for tea or breakfast. Peter Townsend, known for his romance with Princess Margaret, was another well-known resident.

Michael Cole, a former BBC royal correspondent, told GB News that the family home was “by no means an ideal place” to recover from an operation, and quoted a description of the property once written by Rosemary Townsend. She wrote in her memoir that it was the coldest place she had ever encountered in her entire life. So maybe it’s not the best place to start feeling better, especially in this cold winter we’re enjoying right now.”

2015 saw extensive repairs to the cottage, saving Prince William and Kate from having to spend millions remodeling the home. Adelaide Cottage has many of its original features, such as a principal bedroom with a coved ceiling decorated with gold dolphins and rope ornamentation that was salvaged from the Royal vessel Royal George and a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace.
