When it’s awards season, one of the most anticipated ceremonies are the Oscars and today the nominees for the 2024 edition have been revealed, causing a big surprise, especially for what would be about the movie Barbie. Undoubtedly one of the things that is causing outrage in the world of entertainment and film at the moment is that Margot Robbie was not nominated for the Academy Award for her starring role in Barbie, causing great outrage in the audience.
Ryan Gosling is nominated for an Oscar for Barbie and Margot Robbie is not.
For Best Female Role, Barbie was expected to have Margot Robbie nominated, but she did not. The director was not nominated either, but those who did stand out were Ryan Gosling and the Im Just Ken song, causing social networks to explode with disagreement.
Ryan’s nomination has generated a lot of debate, because thinking about the production team, of course they are happy that they are nominated, but maybe they expected the whole team to be nominated:
“I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d be saying this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.
But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.
No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.
To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.
What do you think about it? Do you think the actor deserved the nominations?
