During a recent press conference with the cast for the new Disney+ K-Drama ‘A Shop for Killers‘, its director confessed the reason why he chose Lee Dong-wook as the star, highlighting and praising his great abilities in acting and physical appearance.
In the new South Korean production, the renowed actor plays a mercenary-turned-arms dealer, Jung Jin-man, who raised his niece until she went to college, but his death made her return, and she found herself in many troubles.

In the press conference held on January 15th, the main cast and director talked more about the action series. For his part, Lee Kwon revealed details of the process to choose the main male actor and why it does not match the characteristics of the original novel.
“The character, Jung Jin-man, is actually a very heavy-built, bald man in the original novel, and there wasn’t an actor who could portray that in terms of looks. Unlike in the novel, in our show, we wanted to showcase the backstory of the character, and a lot of the series is dedicated to the past of Jung Jin-man“, said the director Lee.
“So I wanted a good-looking, fierce guy who had that combative spirit. For me, I also wanted the character to have an ice-cold demeanor, so I thought Dong-wook was the perfect fit“, he finally said about his decision.
