A few weeks ago came the terrible news that the protagonists of the Scream movies would be out of the new productions, and it all started when the actress Melissa Barrera made some comments about Israel-Hamas that did not please the studio making it quickly was fired and causing much controversy over this decision shortly after it was announced that its protagonist, Jenna Ortega also would not be part of the new productions.
Melissa Barrera would be grateful to have been fired from Scream.
At first it was said that Jenna Ortega would have left the role because she wanted to support her partner, but later it was revealed that it was because she had scheduling problems and gave priority to other projects, but this was not the end for the career of any of the two as Melissa Barrera, is now premiering a film at Sundance that already has a review and she would be grateful for what happened.
Recall that the studio said the following:
“We have zero tolerance for anti-Semitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,”
And she responded with a :
“I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom. Silence is not an option for me.”
Melissa Barerra spoke about the situation in interviews with a pair of media outlets Thursday at the Sundance Film Festival, which he will attend in support of his new independent film Your Monster.
“Honestly, I think I’m finally becoming who I’m supposed to be in life, and the last few months have been a great awakening to that,” she told the Associated Press at the premiere of Your Monster. “I’m so grateful for everything that’s happened.”
What do you think about it? What do you think will happen with the Scream movies?
