Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, was admitted to The London Clinic on Tuesday to undergo planned abdominal surgery. According to Kensington Palace, Kate is expected to remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery.
Her convalescence is anticipated to last between two and three months, and she is not expected to resume her public duties until after Easter, following current medical advice.
During this time, the Prince of Wales will not perform official duties while his wife is hospitalized and for the immediate period following her return home.
Prince William will be looking after his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and has postponed several engagements to be at Kate’s side.
The palace has not confirmed why the surgery was performed, but assured that the operation was successful and the condition treated is not cancerous. The royal family is keeping the specific details of Kate’s treatment and condition private.
