BTS’ V and IU’s song, “Love Wins” sparked controversy because of the song title

BTS’ V had one of the saddest moments in Kpop history last year, after he enlisted in the South Korean military to fulfill his duties with the country. The fans recognized he accomplished his artistry’s climax with his album, “Layover” and they were fully convinced he was going to top it again. However, his new song title along with IU, might be a detractor to his success.

On January 16, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment posted a preview poster, showing Taehyung and IU seated face to face revealing the song’s title, “Love Wins.” Despite the fans’ excitement over the song, numerous K-Netizens questioned the meaning behind the title, and they were not happy at all.

The controversy first started after numerous LGTBTQIA+ individuals expressed their concern over the song’s title. The “Love Wins” phrase is largely used as a slogan in pride parades for sexual minorities and it would be disrespectful to be used in a general heterosexual context.

Neither BTS’ agency, BigHit Music, nor IU’s company, EDAM, have released any kind of statement regarding the situation to clear up things. “Love Wins” is set to be released on major music platforms on January 24, so only time will tell what the true meaning of the song is, and if the K-Netizens were right or not.
