The legendary Queen Elizabeth II has been a topic of discussion in the last few hours, as in a new royal book, the former monarch’s close aide reveals details of her last moments of life, explaining how she and her family lived through this difficult moment.
In the upcoming book ‘The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy‘ by royal biographer Robert Hardman, he shares a memo of the Queen’s last hours from the words of her close aide, Sir Edward Young, who was with her in Balmoral Castle.
“Very peaceful. In her sleep. Slipped away. Old age. She wouldn’t have been aware of anything. No pain“, said Young about the death of the monarch, which took place on September 8th at 3:10 p.m. after a farewell visit of her son Prince Charles, the current King, and her daughter Princess Anne.
King Charles went out to “gather mushrooms and clear his head” after visiting Queen Elizabeth; he received the news that she had died while he was going back to Balmoral. The monarch called his two sons to give them the news, but he did not do it, as it was soon to announce his ascension.
