Shakira started a new chapter of her life in 2023 after she divorced Gérard Piqué and moved to the United States. However, not everything has been a fairy tale for the Colombian singer, as she was harassed by an individual who ultimately got arrested outside her Miami Beach home.
Shakira’s security director told the police that the 56-year-old, Daniel John Valtier, made a series of posts around the new year claiming to be married to Shakira. In addition, Valtier stated that the two of them were about to go into business together and that even he knew Shakira’s children.
The police’s report also highlighted that the stalker sent packages to the artist’s mansion, including wine bottles, gifts, and toys. Even though Shakira’s security team asked Valtier to stop sending gifts and posting misinformation, he didn’t stop and things became more alarming.
On January 3, the suspect posted a business card from a hotel in the Florida Panhandle, claiming he was coming to Shakira’s house. Immediately, the authorities arrested Valtier on charges of misdemeanor stalking and hiring a vehicle with intent to defraud. Valtier is now being held in Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond for the vehicle hire charge, and his case was listed as “to be set.”
