On January 7th, during the prestigious Golden Globes 2024 gala, ‘Oppenheimer‘ and ‘Poor Things‘ proved to be superior to ‘Barbie‘ by completely overshadowing it in this 81st edition of the awards, as Christopher Nolan‘s film won the award for best drama of the year, according to the voting.
Meanwhile, ‘Poor Things’ swept the ‘best comedy or musical‘ category where ‘Barbie’ was also participating, and although many thought that Greta Gerwig’s delivery would take all the awards of the night, it was not so, as its main opponent ‘Oppenheimer’ overshadowed its success.

Oppenheimer was the top winner of the night, taking the award in 5 categories: Christopher Nolan won over Greta Gerwig in ‘Best Director‘ and ‘Best Actor in a Drama‘ for Cillian Murphy; Robert Downey Jr. receive the award for ‘Best Supporting Actor‘, while ‘Soundtrack‘ went to Ludwig Göransson and the movie also got ‘Best Motion Picture‘.
This undoubtedly demonstrates the great success and work done by Nolan and his team; it could also be a prelude to the results that could be seen in the next Oscars Academy Awards, where they will face again for the statuettes ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’.
