In the early 2000s, Prince William’s brief experimentation with facial hair marked a carefree and maturing phase in the royal’s life. Following his public breakup, William had restarted his relationship with a young Kate Middleton, had just graduated from St Andrews University and was ready to embark on a posting in the Royal Air Force. Kate, then just the royal’s girlfriend, was spotted leaving the opulent Whisky Mist nightclub. In the images, William sports a thick, bushy beard that makes him almost unrecognizable.

At the time, Chelsea’s ‘Eight Over Eight’ restaurant was the dinner destination for Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa Middleton, according to reports. Then, shortly after midnight, Kate Middleton showed up at Whiskey Mist to spend the evening dancing with her partner, Prince William.
