2024 has started really strong on the Asian continent, as an escalation of the conflict between North Korea and South Korea is taking place, creating a moment of tension between the two nations never seen for almost 2 decades.

It all started when South Korean officials issued an order to evacuate 3 islands in the north of the country, alleging that North Korea fired 200 artillery shells near the islands of Yeonpyeong and Baengnyeongdo, but what does BTS have to do in all this?

Well, currently the 7 members of the world’s most popular K-pop group are in the midst of their mandatory military service, preparing to go into combat if an escalation in the war between the two nations should arise, affecting peace in the region.

Why is BTS preparing to go to war if North and South Korea escalate their conflict?

North and South Korea have been divided since the end of the Korean War in 1953, which ended with an armistice. The two sides are still technically at war, but both governments have long sought the goal of someday reunifying while maintaining peace in the region.

But since a peace agreement has never been signed, all eligible male citizens of South Korea must fulfill a mandatory military service to educate themselves regarding war and to be prepared in case the North decides to attack the South.

Therefore, Jungkook, V, Jimin, J-Hope, RM, Suga and Jin are being instructed in different war fields to defend and be ready in the service of their country if at any time the situation escalates, and of course now the situation is really tense.

On social media, the ARMY, BTS fandom, has expressed their concern and sent their full support to the HYBE boys, and also requested the leaders of both countries to try their best to maintain peace and avoid the start of a disastrous war as no armed conflict ends well.
