It was known that the Aquaman movie would not have a good audience or box office performance and despite everyone knowing this, it was released commercially, with the most non-existent marketing campaign in the world and with an actress who has been displaced from Hollywood. Aquaman is not a bad movie at all, just a very unlucky movie.
Aquaman 2 to premiere on HBO Max
After the big screen failure the next destination of the movie will be streaming and that is something that is very regrettable, since the water visuals are quite entertaining and the characters are lovable as always, it has the super hero formula, but with a bad reputation that could more than with the value of the movie. It’s certainly a bad close to that moment in superhero cinema, but there’s still a wait for what James Gunn will do next.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is expected to hit its streaming catalog between 67 and 90 days after its December 22 theatrical release. If the distributor follows its current plans, Aquaman 2 will be available on HBO Max on February 27. The release date for other DC Extended Universe films, such as Shazam 2: Rage of the Gods and The Flash, is similar to this one. However, the lead time may also extend into April, following Blue Beetle’s 90-day window.
If you don’t know what the movie is about, here is its synopsis:
Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time around, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to defeat Aquaman once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever and wields the power of the mythical Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must put aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family – and the world – from irreversible destruction.
