The Spanish royal family, led by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, is no new when it comes to controversy and scandals. They could perfectly rival a South Korean drama or a Mexican telenovela with their public feuds, which go from spats or corruption to cheating scandals.
The most recent, and probably the most popular one, includes Jaime Del Burgo, who’s Queen Letizia’s estranged brother-in-law. He has claimed several times to have had an affair with the Queen during her marriage to King Felipe. While Del Burgo tends to delete his revealing tweets about the alleged affair, the claims of a past relationship are still present.
Del Burgo has also spilled the tea on what both the King and Queen of Spain want to preserve. Despite labeling Queen Letizia as a communist and anti-Catholic, he has later expressed that both she and Felipe want to keep their crown:
“Both are only interested in one thing, like Juan Carlos, like anyone else: maintaining the crown that the French gave them 300 years ago in 2024 and the privileges that come with it.”
In addition, a 2019 video, which involves Queen Letizia and her mother-in-law, former Queen Sofia, reflected some family issues. The clip showed a public spat over photographing Leonor and Sofia, as the Queen of Spain didn’t want that to happen.
