Bad news for all you stream lovers! Amazon Prime Video is set to shake things up by adding ads to its movie and TV show streams from January 29th. Not into commercial breaks? Well, you better be ready to spend a little extra cash, as that fee will save you from that.
This decision didn’t come unannounced as Amazon spilled its plains to sprinkle ads throughout Prime Video. Sadly, the decisive day is here, and it’s coming really fast next year. The reason? The company says they’re doing this to keep bringing content we love.
Amazon also said they’re planning to go for “meaningfully fewer ads” than those on TV or other streaming services. So, maybe the change won’t be that bad? One thing’s for sure: the best part about having a streaming platform is watching the content the way you want to, so ads are surely an unpleasant surprise for some users!
But here’s the deal: if you’re not about that commercial/ad life, you can dodge them by paying up an additional $2.99 per month. With that extra cash, you can keep your series, movies, and shows smooth and add free.
This move made by Amazon comes after their competition, giants like Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix, are also playing the ad game on their more wallet-friendly plans. So, get ready to pay a little extra cash from January 29th to keep your shows clean. Otherwise, you better start getting accustomed to some new commercial buddies during your movie nights.
