We had already talked about the problems that were around the Scream movies, and the franchise had had good numbers that were expected to replicate with a new film, which would not be at a good time. First both protagonists left the film, and now who joins the moment of pressure for the studios is that the director will also leave.
Director of the new Scream movie leaves the project.
More than a month and a half ago, Christopher Landon announced on social media that he was leaving the franchise’s most recent entry, calling the production “a nightmare.”
“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago,” Landon wrote on X. “This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone.”
No doubt the future of that franchise doesn’t look good at all. One of the solutions would be to reboot everything and start all over again, because without the main characters these new movies will no longer be what we were all hoping for.

It’s obvious that Landon feels terrible for “everyone involved.” He also restated his intention to include “everyone.” This announcement follows Melissa Barrera’s termination from Scream 7 and Jenna Ortega’s declaration that she would not be going back. Barrera was allegedly let go due to remarks she made on social media regarding the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas.
What do you think about it? Do you like the Scream movies? Do you think a new movie will be released despite all the problems the studio is going through? What do you think about the decision of the ex director?
