The seventh movie from the Scream franchise had a lot going on for itself, the fans were eager to go to the theaters, the leading actress was a at the peak of her popularity, and everything seemed to be going well… until it wasn’t.
First, on November 21st it was confirmed that one of the main actresses, Melissa Barrera, was fired from the movie for being outspoken about her support to the Palestinian people amid the Israel bombing, she went as far as calling it a genocide. Later, Jenna Ortega, who played the main character, decided to quit amid the controversy generated by the producing company’s decision to fire Barrera. Her quitting was assumed to be a gesture in support of Palestine.
With those two no longer being involved, the project was left on uncertainty for a while, now, the Director Christopher Landon has also decided to part ways with Scream, which looks like a final blow. In his own words, he no longer feels desire to work on the movie, and that it was a dream turned into a nightmare.
He also mentioned that it was heartbreaking to leave the production, but that it was the right decision.
What do you think? Is the movie even going to be made?
