Warner Bros. will continue to release The Batman Part II in the middle of DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, but as a DC Elseworlds title, in a different universe than films like Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

On Thursday, a follower asked Gunn on Threads, “Why isn’t director Matt Reeves’ The Batman allowed to exist within the new DCU?”

“It’s not an ‘allowed’ thing,” Gunn replied. “It’s Matt’s decision and we respect it.”

“DCU is a multiverse, but we will focus on one universe in that multiverse. And if anything is, In DCU, we’re going to make that very clear. So, in strictly adult movies, like Todd Phillips’ Joker or kids’ animations like Team Titans Go, we’re going to make it very clear that those are DC Elseworlds in the same way that I would be doing in the comics.”
