Following his recent interview with Spike Lee for Variety‘s ‘Directors on Directors’ video series, Bradley Cooper was heavily criticized for revealing that he denies the use of chairs on film sets. The Oscar-nominated actor and filmmaker revealed, “There are no seats on sets; I’ve always hated them“.
Cooper explained the reason why he has decided to apply this new policy to the films he has directed, ensuring that “the energy decreases the moment you sit in the chair, then you don’t feel like working, and the process is more complicated“.
Through the social network X (formerly Twitter), Internet users have expressed their disagreement with the demands of Bradley Cooper in his career as a director, so the most recurrent comments are: “Working 12 hours + days without being allowed to sit is a violation of rights“, and “Standing for a full working day is an inhumane treatment that no one should tolerate“.
It should be noted that Cooper is not the first director to implement this policy, as Anne Hathaway revealed in 2020 that Christopher Nolan does not allow chairs either, and although some representatives said it was not true, in 2023 Robert Downey Jr. confessed that when he made the recordings of ‘Oppenheimer’, chairs were prohibited.
