Taylor Swift speaks up about her and Beyoncé’s comparisions

Taylor Swift was named TIME’s 2023 Person of the Year on December 6, her undeniable talent and hard work made her accomplish this amazing feat. The American artist wields this opportunity to talk about her career and the challenges she has to face and address the rising controversy about her comparisons with Beyoncé.

Both, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé released two groundbreaking albums in 2022, “Midnights,” and “Renaissance” respectively. The albums spawned great hits around the world and quickly became two of the most influential artists globally during 2022 and 2023. In addition, both artists embarked on two massive tours and the media outlets couldn’t stop comparing them.

American media outlets started by comparing sales and tour’s gross to place one of them as the “legitimate” winner. However, this is not how Taylor Swift perceives this idea and was completely honest about it.

Beyoncé surprised Swift by attending her “Eras Tour” film premiere in Los Angeles and Swift just accompanied Beyoncé during her “Renaissance: a Film by Beyoncé” premiere in London last week. This powerful friendship is one of one, as Swift expresses it.

She started by emphasizing Beyoncé is a great disruptor of music-industry norms as she taught every artist how to flip the table and challenge archaic business practices. Swift was completely aware that she had been compared to Beyoncé several times, as she commented that Beyoncé’s tour and her tour were the only ones people put against each other. She continued saying that it was very lucrative for the media and stan culture to pit two women against each other, even when they refused to participate in that discussion.

There’s no doubt, this amazing friendship has been stable since 2009, after the VMAs incident. They stand up for each other and support each other in every project and it just became one of the most pure and beautiful friendships in the music industry nowadays.
