Eli Roth is back with a film that promises to be a new classic, and Thanksgiving is giving everything the audience was asking for: A new iconic slasher with the fear of a character as American as possible, Thanksgiving.
With great moments of gore, Eli Roth reminds us why he is the hope of horror cinema, and if you didn’t know him, the director, a good friend of Quentin Tarantino, is the mind behind works like Hostel or Green Inferno, so seeing him back is a great 2023 hit.
The film has been so well received that reviews are highly positive, as the film gives us new iconic characters with a new bogeyman approach within a small town in America.
Thanksgiving, the horror movie of the year, will have a sequel
Roth shared on Instagram on Thursday a post about the sequel, indicating that work on the script was ongoing. The film Grindhouse, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, released in 2007, inspired the idea for Thanksgiving.
“GOOD NEWS! John Carver will kill again,” the director titled the sequel’s announcement video. “Thank you to everyone who supported HORROR ORIGINAL in theaters!!!! Go see it now on the big screen while it’s in theaters, the sequel will be released in 2025. Taking a year to really get the script right, working on it starting today!”.
Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon and Tim Dillon star in this first installment. The box office went crazy with the arrival of the film and it is undoubtedly a great success for Eli Roth, who now, after the success, has assured that a second part of the film is in development.
What do you think about it? Did you like the Thanksgiving movie? Do you think it will become a new slasher classic?
