This analysis will look at how Taylor Swift’s lyrics relate to her literary references. For example, a line in her song The Lakes reads, “Tell me which ones are my Wordsworth,” in reference to the English poet William Wordsworth. The research on Taylor Swift at Harvard will not be limited to classifying songs into Pop or Country genres. Instead, it will examine the songs from a class, religious and identity perspective, as well as their impact on issues such as political activism, women’s rights and the LGBTQ+ community.
