The Marvels movie would have been what everyone expected: A disappointment, and even the CEO would know what happened behind it, but apparently, the fans have another opinion about it, since the numbers were not even close to what they wanted.
The movie starring Captain Marvel didn’t make much money, but it was something that was already seen coming from afar and people even made a lot of memes about it, but now, even the top brass of those who made the movie, have given a stance.
Bob Iger gave an extensive interview to The New York Times in which he addressed his return as CEO, Disney’s current challenges and other topics. Iger reiterated his focus on quality over quantity regarding Marvel Studios’ declining revenues.
“Quality needs attention…. It doesn’t happen by accident. Quantity, in our case, diluted quality,” Iger said, according to NBC News.
Iger noted that one of the reasons The Marvels is falling short is because it was shot during the COVID-19 pandemic:
“there wasn’t as much oversight on set, so to speak, where we have executives [who are] keeping an eye on what’s being done day in and day out.”
“I would say that, right now, my number one priority is to help the studio make a creative turnaround,” he added.
The interesting thing about this film, is that despite being very much rejected by the audience, the critics didn’t hate it so much, they even said that the director was a great promise and had a lot to say, so we can possibly see it in the future. What do you think about it? mYou went to see the movie in the theater? Do you think the movie is bad enough to be a failure?
