This year the world of cinema has been very interesting, and many things have happened that have put production companies in check. It all started with a screenwriters’ strike that was not so scary until the actors decided to join. Then began a strike of more than 4 months that put the industry in doubt, since many projects and plans were affected because it was not possible to reach an agreement where everyone could be happy.
After more than 4 months of pressure, the industry managed to reach a 3 year agreement, so many production companies began to publish new release dates for their productions, but what Paramount did not expect, is that they would have many more problems with their movie Scream.
A few days ago we learned that the protagonists of Scream had left after 2 films. And it all started after some comments from Melissa Barrera, followed by Jenna who left the project. It was known that the franchise was in danger, to the extent that apparently they were even looking for the original actors to return and save what they had already agreed.
Rumors began indicating that Jenna Ortega’s departure was to defend her friend, her scene partner. Later it was indicated that it was because she had scheduling problems because of the Netflix series Wednesday, but new information has indicated that Jenna decided to leave the project because of the money she was asking for.
Although Ortega had previously received six-figure salaries for her contributions, her team is now looking for projects with large budgets-something the Scream franchise is not known for. According to sources, she was hoping for high seven figures and thought Spyglass would refuse.
What do you think about it? Do you think the Scream industry will recover? Will you watch the next movie or would it be better if they stopped making them?
