One of the most extreme jobs in being an actor is, without a doubt, to take on the body of a character you are going to play. That can make you gain weight in an exaggerated way, also lose many kilos or even become a model of strong and healthy lifestyle, making the actors must undergo processes that are not always the most pleasant.
We have known the roles of actors who have had to gain incredible amounts of weight or completely transform themselves to give life to a character and that is when we realize the great responsibility they are willing to do to reach what the role requires.
Even though we live in an era where everything can be done with computers or artificial intelligence, there is nothing like actors committed to their characters and that’s why they are so loved by their production companies and for the awards season. Especially if it is the role of a superhero, as they often have an image to maintain and this would be what would have happened to the protagonist of Ant Man.
Ant Man is a movie belonging to the Marvel universe, where Paul Rudd was the actor responsible for bringing this tiny character on screen, but apparently, it was not as easy as everyone thought it would be, since the actor had to be on a very specific diet to take the role to the big screen.
“My only reward was drinking sparkling water,” the actor admitted with a laugh in his interview on the Off Menu podcast, “it was a horrible diet. It was like, ‘Come on, I’m going to have some sparkling water, I’ve earned it today. “Yeah, it was great to be able to drink it. If it had been flavored, it would have driven me crazy.”
“What I do know is that I worked harder than anybody else and I ate much better than all of them, and yet I looked much worse than all of them. I played sports, I ate perfectly, just so I wouldn’t look bad. Not even to be cool, just not to look bad,
What do you think about it? Do you think that the extreme diets followed by those required for the roles are prudent or can they affect their physical integrity?
