The new Scream movie is being watched for many varied problems. First they fired its protagonist Melissa Barrera, but that was not enough, since only a few hours later, it was announced that Jenna Ortega would also have left the project.
After the two protagonists who decided not to continue being part of the franchise, Scream decided that it has other plans and that the films will continue with or without them and in this case, it will be without them.
This will happen with Scream 7 after the departure of its protagonists.
Both protagonists of the last two installments of Scream have resigned due to comments made by Melissa regarding the situation in Palestine, the studio did not agree and would have fired her quietly and this would have been the perfect pretext for Jenna Ortega and thus also leave this film.
James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, the screenwriters of the first two Scream installments, will have to rewrite the draft to present it to the producers, since the plot is closed and ready to start shooting. The return of some old members of the franchise, including the legendary Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), who had already declined her participation in the sixth installment, and the reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), who caused us a heart attack in the previous film.
With this, Paramount showed that it doesn’t matter if they don’t agree to be part of the movie, since they still have a lot of talent that could be exploited for new films.
Although it’s a pretty risky idea, seeing old characters come back doesn’t sound like a bad plan at all. What do you think about it? Do you think Scream is making the right decision to move on from its female leads?
