The members of the renowned Korean pop group BLACKPINK join The Beatles and Adele in receiving a royal honor in the United Kingdom for their role as advocates of the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, being decorated by King Charles III himself as ‘Members of the Order of the British Empire’ (MBE).

Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa demonstrated admirable work in 2021 when they encouraged millions of young people to participate in the UN world conference on climate change. Through their social networks, they published some videos with the intention of providing information and raising awareness on the issue.

This honor rewards those who receive it for an outstanding achievement or service to the British community, and before the girls the only artist who received it were; The Beatles in 1965 and Adele in 2013. The BLACKPINK members were praised by the British monarch, who said he could only admire how they prioritized climate issues in addition to being global superstars.

All BLACKPINK members were named by the UN Secretary General as ‘Ambassadors for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals’ after finishing their work at COP26 and being a source of inspiration for their fan club and the whole world.
