The Thai idol, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa, was YG Entertainment’s first foreign trainee, which brought her some challenges when she moved to Korea, such as the language barrier. However, the singer overcame it quickly and, in a recent interview, shared how she learned Korean in just one year.
In conversations with Rolling Stone magazine, the rapper revealed the method she applied to learn the language so fast and so fluently, to which she gave full credit to the actions of her teacher, who only spoke Korean and kept it in all her classes with the idol.
“My teacher didn’t want me to continue speaking English in the classes, so she tried her best to keep me speaking Korean until the end“, Lisa said of her first visit to Korea, a fact that allowed her to adapt and learn the language quickly.
“During the hour-long classes, we spoke only Korean. Even though I knew nothing about it, she only spoke this language, so it was very difficult“. However, this challenge made her what she is today, as she speaks three languages, Thai, English, and Korean, as well as Japanese, and she is currently studying Mandarin.
