People are celebrating, as many of the productions that have been at risk due to the strike are still on track and it is time to celebrate, as both parties managed to reach an agreement that will have a certain duration and see the modifications that can continue.
Not only the people are celebrating, but also the actors’ union and all the people belonging to the entertainment world, since they demonstrated their importance in the industry and with that, fairer improvements for their work.
Hollywood studios celebrate the end of the actors’ strike
Undoubtedly, one of the most interesting things about the agreement are the issues of artificial intelligence, so let’s hope that this technology does not bring more problems for the industry.
We are pleased that the National Board has recommended ratification of the agreement by the membership.
This sentiment was reinforced by AMPTP’s affirmation:
We are also grateful that the entire industry has returned to work with enthusiasm. The SAG-AFTRA National Board, comprised of a diverse membership, has shown strong support with 86% voting in favor.
We are very proud of what we have stood for and won in this new contract and I personally am very proud of our President and our negotiating committee and our members who have stood strong to create this change.
I felt there was no way that anything related to this contract would really make a significant difference in the lives of our members working on the broadcast platforms. The contract itself needed to change.
An AMPTP spokesperson expressed appreciation for the cooperation and joint effort:
We are grateful for the collaboration and constructive dialogue we have had with SAG-AFTRA throughout this process. We believe this agreement is a positive step forward for both parties.
What do you think about it? Do you think it is good news that the studios reached an agreement?
