The Hollywood strikes are finally over, and with that, actors can now return to work and productions that were in jeopardy now finally have a point where they could arrive on the dates they’ve been waiting for. But the strike has definitely left a lot of changes for everyone in the industry.
One of the biggest changes that we all could notice, was the delay of several productions, and, unfortunately, even cancellation, as it could have happened with the new John Cena movie that has been cancelled in an official way, so we won’t see him again in that interesting role.
Warner cancels John Cena’s new movie
The premiere of Coyote vs. Acme, which stars John Cena, has been permanently cancelled by the company. This has given a lot to talk about, wondering if bringing James Gunn into the company was the best decision, as it doesn’t look like the studio has any better plans ahead and that has already worried everyone significantly.
For months, audiences heard news and leaks about the production company’s recent decisions, layoffs, lack of concern for taking care of its animation creators and its desire to revamp DC as quickly as possible in an effort to salvage a few million with the remnants of the DCEU. One of the most controversial decisions was to completely cancel Batgirl, a film that was on its last leg of production. Especially since they gave priority to a box office flop like The Flash.
With the relaunch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio changed its overall strategy to focus on theatrical releases. With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with ‘Wile E. Coyote vs. Acme’. We have enormous respect for the filmmakers, cast and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film.
What do you think about it? Do you think the movie of the former WWE wrestler should have been canceled?
