The Marvels is about to hit theaters and with that much more information that we possibly didn’t know, it seems that the movie has a very particular inspiration in one of the most beloved video games.
You may have heard of Final Fantasy. Despite its long list of game numbers, one of the most recognized is Final Fantasy 7 and apparently, Nia DaCosta would have been inspired by this fantastic game for her new Marvel movie.
The Marvels director was inspired by Final Fantasy 7
The reviews of Brie Larson’s new movie have been very controversial, as some people claim that it’s a big gamble compared to the superhero movies we’ve had lately, but in general, the reception of the movie has been surprisingly positive.
Apparently, a big inspiration that the director felt, was nothing more nor less than by a video game called Final Fantasy, but specifically, the 7th installment of these popular games.
“It’s an amazing movie, with fantastic fight scenes and a fantastic final sequence with the main character being thrown into the sky by the other characters,” said the filmmaker.
“Think of the scenes in The Last of Us or Horizon Zero Dawn, but it’s a very different style,” “For me, the best games, the best stories, are the ones that inspire me to play, and I think they inspire people to watch movies like this.”
If you have no idea what The Marvels is about, here’s a brief synopsis to give you a better understanding:
Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has regained the identity taken from her by the tyrannical Kree and has taken her revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But a series of unforeseen consequences force her to bear the weight of a destabilized universe. When duty leads her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers connect with those of her New Jersey superfan Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, and her estranged niece, now an astronaut at S.A.B.E.R., Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, the members of this unlikely trio will have to join forces and learn to work as a team as ‘The Marvels’ to save the universe.
What do you think about it? Do you like the video game from which the film’s director was inspired? Do you think it is a good inspiration for a Marvel movie?
