Due to the new title granted last August by Prince William to his wife Kate Middleton, the Princess decided to dress in military uniform for her debut as Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Dragoon Guards, assuming with all responsibility and seriousness this important position for the British royal family.
On October 8th, the Princess of Wales made her first visit to the regiment at Swanton Morley, where, in addition to complying with the proper attire of camouflage vest and helmet, she participated in a series of activities with the intention of becoming more familiar with the position and all that this new rank entails.
One of the feats that the princess performed was driving a war tank. “It is really incredible; to be honest, it responds very well, taking into consideration its large size“, was the opinion of the new Colonel in Chief of the Queen’s Dragoon Guards after driving the vehicle.
Additionally, the Princess of Wales had the opportunity to understand how the operation is managed on site, learned how to operate a reconnaissance drone, and took the opportunity to award medals to men and women of the regiment, where she took the opportunity to decorate the mascot ‘Trooper Longface Emrys Jones’ from Lance Corporal first to Lance Corporal second.
