BLACKPINK’s company, YG Entertainment, has finally given an official date for the debut of its upcoming group named “BABYMONSTER.” These girls will be hitting stages about seven years since YG’s last female group, BLACKPINK, and 3 years since their last male group, “TREASURE.” This announcement was made with a promo picture that has the name of the group on the concrete, decorated with a red mark.
Now, it is no secret that BABYMONSTER’s debut had multiple delays. First, it was said they would be releasing their official first track in August, then the date was moved to September, and boom! Just like that, everything remained silent until today, when it was finally confirmed that BABYMONSTER will debut on November 27.
Now, these setbacks came with some controversy and rumors among Kpop fans. Since YG Entertainment never provided any official reasons for BABYMONSTER’s process, stans quickly started speculating. On one hand, some pointed out it all had to do with BLACKPINK’s contract renewal. On the other hand, others blamed it on a controversy that involved one member saying a racial slur. However, the agency cleared things up, saying:
“We were meticulous in the selection of the debut song with the aim of providing the best possible outcome. We kindly ask for understanding regarding the slight delay from our initially shared debut date of September, resulting from this diligent process.”
