In the past few hours, former YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-suk was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 1 year probation after a 4-year legal battle on charges of threatening to retaliate against an artist.
On November 8th, the businessman had his sixth appeal hearing after being found not guilty in the past for being charged with violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, where the court overturned the previous verdict finding him guilty of the charges.
These accusations began in 2016 when the music agency’s artist B.I. was involved in a drug scandal, and singer Han Seo Hee testified to the police against him, which is why he was later threatened and received persecution attempts by the CEO to annul his declarations.
Although the prosecution requested that he be sentenced to 3 years in prison, due to a lack of evidence, he was found not guilty, and it was not until the most recent appeal trial that the accused, Yang Hyun-suk, was sentenced as guilty of these charges and must serve 6 months in prison and one year of probation as a consequence of his actions.
