Okay, Swiftie fam, gather around! As you probably know, Taylor Swift dropped her re-recorded version of 1989 a couple of weeks ago, and today we finally got the real tea on all the records she broke (or extended). The results are nothing short of impressive, Tay-Tay is out there queening and proving she holds some true star power.
Here are the facts: this week, Taylor was able to debut 7 songs from her “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album on the Billboard Hot 100. This includes “Is It Over Now?” debuting at the number one spot, marking the 11th #1 hit for Tay in the United States. We can also see “Now That We Don’t Talk” at number two, and “Slut!” in the third position. Then, there’s “Say Don’t Go” at the fifth spot, “Bad Blood” getting number 7, and “Style” and “Suburban Legends” and number 9 and 10, respectively!
Thanks to this, Taylor Swift became the FIRST female artist in history to replace herself at the number-one spot twice. Oh yes, in case you didn’t know, she also took the first spot last week, thanks to her bop “Cruel Summer.” But wait, these dazzling accomplishments keep coming: this week, Taylor also extended her record as the female artist with the most top ten hits in history, setting the bar at 49 smash songs.
Now, here’s another record: Taylor placed her jams in 8 out of the 10 spots on Billboard. The other two are Dojat Cat with “Paint the Town Red” and SZA with “Snooze.” The result? This marks the second time in history that the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 is only female. The first time? When Taylor dropped “Midnights” around this time last year!
