Rosalía and Björk stopped the world after the Icelandic artist posted a heartfelt message in a video on her Instagram account, where she announced she was going to release a new song along with Rosalía to bring awareness of the current situation of Iceland regarding the Salmon crisis.
Björk recorded the song, but she never released it as it was too mainstream to fit on her albums like Vespertine or Homogenic. The song went “lost” for decades until she heard the word “oral” on the news, and remembered the title of her song. “Oral” is described as a combination of reggae and orchestral strings, however might have several changes as the song includes Rosalía.
On November 5, Rosalía and Björk released the cover of their collaboration, “Oral” which severs a cryptic message of the sea. They both appear with several elements referencing sea pearls and pose as statues.
“Oral” is going to be a charity single, which will benefit a legal fund to help Icelanders who live on the East Coast fight the arrival of another industrial salmon farm. In addition, any leftover money will go to campaigning for new legislation and raising awareness of this concerning situation.
